Local production, funded to last.
A fund and a method for making more of what a region needs, in the region - starting in Norrland, northern Sweden.
Regions should make what they depend on.
Norrland imports much of what it could make: furniture, food and ingredients, wood products, textiles. Every one of those is a job, a skill and a supply chain that currently lives somewhere else.
Resilience
A region that makes its own essentials is harder to disrupt. When long supply chains fail, short ones keep working.
Sustainability
Goods made close to where they are used travel less and last longer. Durable things made well replace disposable things made far away.
Jobs
Production means skilled work that stays in the region. Each maker funded is a workplace that cannot be moved abroad.
The shift is already happening.
People are turning from disposable imports to durable goods made nearby. Fabric exists to speed that up.
Three things.
Find the gaps
We measure what a region imports but could make. The result is a short list of things worth building here.
Fund the makers
We back the people who can make them, with patient capital from aligned backers. No pressure for a fast exit, and time to get good.
Keep it local
A non-profit foundation holds the method and the surplus. Value made in the region stays in the region.
In one line: find what could be made here, fund the makers, keep the value local.
Three ways in.
Makers
YouYou make, or want to make, something the region currently buys from elsewhere.
Patient funding, a clear gap to fill, and a network of others doing the same.
Municipalities
YouYou want more of what your municipality depends on to be made within it.
A method for measuring the gap and a fund ready to back the makers who close it.
Backers
YouYou want your capital to build lasting production in a place, not to chase a quick exit.
A structured way to back local makers, with the value held locally. A separate deck explains how - ask for it.
Nothing here is an offer or a request for money. It is an invitation to talk.
The method is a gift. The name is protected.
What we publish
The whole method - how to measure the gap, how to fund makers, how to keep value local - free for any region to use.
What stays private
The details of individual deals, the makers' books, and anything a backer asks to keep confidential.
What the name means
Fabric is a protected name, so that a region using it is in fact following the method, the foundation and the rules.
